Loading, Dosage, and How to Make Meaningful Change in the Clinic
Presented by Dr. Jaydee Romick, PT, DPT

As physical therapists we are becoming increasingly aware that we underdose our patients, especially in the older adult population. Jaydee is interested in the nuanced discussion of load and dosage in therapeutic exercise, especially when “it depends” calls for more specific, patient centered questions. From ACSM and CDC guidelines to patient centered care, we need to do more for our patients to make sure they are getting the benefits out of our treatments.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Define dosage, load, and therapeutic exercise
  2. Discuss patient centered care, patient reported outcomes, gold standard interventions, and clinical decision making
  3. How to determine volume and load for your patient
  4. Tools to use to measure intensity with your patients
  5. How to alter dosage and load with your patient
  6. Case studies if there is time!

10:00 AM - 11:00 PM (PST)

Data from the Survey of Minority PT Students and Professionals in the Northwest
Presented by:
Caitlin Burbank, PhD, PT, DPT, CEEAA
Talina Corvus, PhD, DPT, PT, GCS, ACEEAA
Jose L. Reyna, PT, DPT, OCS

The CMA Committee launched a survey study in 2021 to explore the experiences and insights of Physical Therapy students and professionals in Oregon and Washington. The goal of this study was to learn more about the impact of minority status on work and learning site satisfaction, leadership engagement, and professional association participation. Results from the study provide insight into challenges faced, actions that can be taken to increase satisfaction and engagement, and the layers of diversity present in our profession.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Attendees will gain an understanding of the experiences and challenges that PT students and professionals who identify as underrepresented navigate within our region.
  2. Attendees will take away some insights into the ways in which individuals from underrepresented groups orient themselves to the APTA and it’s state chapters.
  3. Attendees will be exposed to new perspectives on the depth of diversity present within our field

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM (PST)
